Last Saturday night Cath and I had the pleasure of hosting the Blairgowrie Yacht Squadron biennial Commodore’s reunion dinner. Guests included some of the Clubs Past Commodore’s, and their partners, who have been influential in shaping the Club into what it is today. It was also our chance to thank outgoing Commodore, Matt McCarthy and his wife Kym, who will soon join this group, along with welcoming future Commodore’s Martin Kudnig and Georgina Plumridge.
Simon, our Head Chef, went to an enormous amount of trouble with his team preparing a wonderful dinner for the night and exceeding all of our expectations. Thanks go to Kerry for the beautiful room set up and Kate for putting the night together and making the guests feel so welcome. Finally, Dave, our House Manager, selected some great wines for us to enjoy on the night and ran the night without fuss, assisted by our fabulous front of house team.
We were fortunate to have the Right Honourable Lord Mayor of Melbourne, Sally Capp join us as a guest speaker on the night, who took time out of her incredibly busy schedule to give us an insight into the challenges and success Melbourne city has faced in recent years. Her, and her partner, made the night special with some inspiring words and triggering a great discussion.
Thanks once again to all who played a role, this was another successful event hosted by BYS.
