BYS dominates at Sail Peninsula

Six of Blairgowrie’s brightest and best took out the AMS teams event and placed second on ORCC at Sail Peninsula 2022 at Martha Cove the weekend before last.

The regatta has become a terrific annual event hosted by Safety Beach Sailing Club, with 60 entries this year.  A twilight stern chaser kicks things off on Friday evening, followed by a long passage race to BYS and back on Saturday morning and a shorter round-the-sticks on Sunday.

Greg Rowland, Justin Arter, Tom Opie and Brian Cosgriff once again sailed an almost perfect series on Bo Derek to win Division 1 ORCC (two firsts and a fourth) and placed second in AMS. Ten Past Too, One Out of the Box, Way 2 Go, Playlist and Dirt Water all looked promising at times, but (other than a couple of second places in individual races) were otherwise unable to bother the judges too much!

Safety Beach does a great job with this regatta and it would be great to see some more BYS keelboat skippers and crews support the event next year.
