At the RS Aero National Championships, held at Jervis Bay Sailing Club last week, BYS was announced as the venue to host the 2027 RS Aero World Championships.
BYS submitted an engaging, detailed and thoroughly professional tender proposal of 54 pages complete with embedded video and beautiful still photography extolling not only the attributes of BYS as a world class sailing club, but also the beauty of the iconic Southern Mornington Peninsula as a holiday destination.
There were five other clubs vying to host this prestigious regatta. The adjudication panel was comprised of members of the National Aero committee and the International Manager of RS Aero who is based in the UK.
The BYS Aero fleet is the fastest growing Aero fleet in the country with the expectation of continued growth leading up to the Aero Nationals being held at BYS in January 2026 and now the Worlds the following year.
The Aero Victorian State regatta is also being held at BYS on March 1/2 with an expected entry of between 40-50 boats including possibly two international competitors.
My thanks to the other members of the tender committee, Simon Pluim, Martin Kudnig, Andy McIntyre and Michelle de Blaquiere for all their hard work in the last 3 months in producing such a compelling document.
