2023 Int. Contender Victorian Championship

The Victorian Contender Championships were sailed in Somers on the weekend. 36 boats entered from 4 states with interstate entrants from Adelaide, Canberra and Gosford.

We had 3 races on Saturday in a variable and patchy wind of around 10-12 knots, with a lumpy sea state. Callum Burns had some good results to be positioned 5th overnight, but wasn’t available to sail on day 2.

On Sunday we had last 2 races in light wind between 5 and 8 knots with a fairly stable direction and intensity.

Mark Bulka won his 9th state title. Second was close between light wind specialist Grant Robinson from Sandringham and Michael Macdonald from McCrae.

7 BYS sailors made the trip. Alister Danks finished 10th, John Lindholm 12th, Paul Wilson 17th.
