News From The Sailing Office

Commodores Breakfast & Junior Skipper Race

The Sailing Office is seeking expressions of interest to see who is interested in participating in The Commodores Breakfast and Junior Skipper Race on 15 January 2023.

This will take place as part of Junior and Youth Sail Training. It will be a breakfast with your keelboat skipper and all your sail training friends followed by a fun race on keelboats with BYS members skippering. We are seeking expressions of interest as to whom may wish to attend and also a preference as to whom you would like to be with on your keelboat. We will try to accommodate grouping people together where they wish as best we can. Please email the Sailing Office to express your interest so we can approach the members for keelboat allocation knowing our numbers for the day.

Junior and Youth Sail Training December 18th

Unfortunately what started as a lovely day on Sunday at BYS Sail Training quickly turned into a 25 knot Easterly and just became too strong for our training. We hope all sailors enjoyed their onshore activities, land-based sail training and theory. It was a great opportunity for sailors to hear about the upcoming Minnow Nationals at BYS, and we truly hope to see you all register before Christmas and come along to what will be a very fun week at BYS. Sail Training now pauses for xmas break and we will reconvene together on Thursday 29th December at 0900. YST Groups will be 29th from 1-4pm. Wish all sailors and their parents a merry xmas.

Keelboat Crewing Course

Congratulations to our latest squad of Keelboat Start Crewing Sailors who completed their three-part course on Saturday. We look forward to seeing you further participate in our sailing calendar this season and begin applying your newly found skills.

The Sailing Office would like to thank Andrew Lawson and Ed Warner for their onboard Instruction during this course.

Hardstand Sailing Operations

The team behind the scene that often go unseen. Seth and Henry giving the BYS J70s a boat wash to remove yellowing and rust stains in preparation for a upcoming cut and polish. Well done boys.
