Keelboat Start Crewing / SheSails Keelboat Experience / Keelboat Racing Experience
The Training and Development Courses continue to ramp up as we have officially moved into Summer. This week we kicked off with a Friday night Racing Experience Course on a J70. With Gordon Hyde as Instructor, this course allows participants to take part in the club twilight race and learn the light sequence and course layout on offer and how to get around the BYS twilight race course. Thankyou Gordon for providing your group with a memorable late afternoon racing experience in a fantastic breeze.
Saturday morning, Gordon again backed up with SheSails Keelboat Experience Course. This women’s program allows an introduction to sailing, providing an excellent opportunity to enjoy the joy of sailing while learning the fundamentals of sailing in a fun, safe and all female environment.
Sunday we had Andrew Lawson delivering a J70 Keelboat Start Crewing Course. With sailing theory, safety and boat handling we were able to have Andrew Lawson instructing onboard while Andrew Wilkinson was rotating two sailors at time in the RIB to view and discuss sail trim and direction of sail from a different perspective. This is a three-part course run over three separate weekends. We look forward to welcoming this group back next Sunday morning to continue their journey through this fabulous course with Andrew Lawson instructing.
I encourage all members new or old to take the opportunity to consider a course with The Sailing Office and either brush up on some old skill or learn some new theory and skills to allow you to immerse yourself further into all that Blairgowrie Yacht Squadron has on offer.
