BYS Easter Art Show 2022

This year we celebrated our 12th Easter Art Show and we were certainly blessed with amazing weather, it was a pleasure to welcome back our sponsors, artists, BYS members and visitors. Once again we showcased an incredible range of artistic works in a variety of media, with sculptures continuing to add an extra dimension to the show that was very well received. This was evidenced by the circular worn patch on the lawn area where the sculptures had been roped off which many of you would have noticed this weekend! We are still tallying up the final results of the Art Show but the feedback has been very positive and we feel we still offer the ‘best show’ on the Mornington Peninsula. We had 354 works on display of which 95 were sculptures from 128 artists. Commission works were also taken for additional works during the Art Show.

Due to the club’s restrictions with the pandemic, our traditional opening night function was unable to be held but hopefully, we can return to an evening Opening Function in 2023. In lieu of this, we once again held six Good Friday viewing sessions which were sponsored by the De Poi Family, Foxeys Hangout and Mornington Peninsula Brewery. The newer format was enjoyed by all guests who had the opportunity to speak directly with artists who attended during their session. Chef Simon’s gourmet food platters on the deck were the envy of everyone. Our feature artists this year were Linda Weil, Dianne Fix and James Alexander. Danny Lacy from Mornington Peninsula Regional Gallery was our judge and he announced the artist awards as follows:

People's Choice Award 2021

The continued success of the Art Show is largely due to the quality and diversity of works on display which has been refreshed again this year to include 23 new artists of which Hannah Nolan, Leisl Jackson and Geoff Sargeant received awards. The support of BYS members and the general public who purchase the art works is greatly appreciated, with all funds raised by the Squadron used to support our rescue boat fleet.
