The BYS Junior Sail Training program progressively follows the Australian Sailing Pathways – Steps 1 through to 3, and includes Start Sailing, Better Sailing and Start Racing.
Our program is designed to provide a safe and fun introduction to sailing that’s inclusive to all children aged between 7 and 12 years.
Individuals in our Junior Sail Training program belong to 1 of the 5 different groups to cater for their skill level, confidence and experience out on the water. The groups progress in the following order from beginners to our most experienced sailors: Green Group, White Group, Orange Group, Purple Group and Blue Group.
Despite our separate groups, we have whole group briefings and warm ups at the start of each session, and employ a buddy system to ensure that our most beginner sailors interact with and learn from our experienced juniors. This contributes to the Team BYS atmosphere that all of our participants and parents/guardians are a part of.

Tackers Sailing Pathway
The Tackers Sailing Pathway is a fun introductory, games-based sailing program designed for kids aged 7-12 years. Kids don’t need to have any sailing experience or club membership to participate.
